Toy Review: S.H. Figuarts Iron Man Mark 42

After the successful launch of the S.H. Figuarts Iron Man Mark 6, Bandai followed it up with the release of the S.H. Figuarts Iron Man Mark 42 from the movie Iron Man 3. Just like in the movie, the suit uses the mix of metallic gold and red colors and his core is covered with a transparent plastic, showing the details of the reactor.

Accessories include 3 pairs of hands for in flight poses or replusor blast positions. Only a pair has pegs to inset the effects in. The wrists share the same guard from the default hands. 3 pairs of effects are easy to plug in the figure, the biggest set goes under his feet, the smaller pair with a shorter tail for flight effects and the longer version for fight mode. As an added bonus, this includes Tony’s sofa with a pair of throw pillows molded together.

If there is a part I really want to complain are the wrist guards that don't really secure lock on the figure. Often times these fall easily as soon as the flaps touches any of Mark 42’s parts. Articulation is not far from Mark 6 and paint applications and details continue to put me at awe. Unfortunately, Mark 42 belongs to one of the most expensive mass retail releases in this line. Makes me wonder why at this price range, Bandai didn’t put a Bandai Collector’s Shop Exclusive mark on it.
